Material Reference

IEC 60889: Hard-drawn aluminium wire for overhead line conductors

IEC 60888: Zinc-coated steel wires for stranded conductors

ASTM B230: Standard Specification for Aluminum 1350-H19 Wire for Electrical Purposes

ASTM B498/B498M: Standard Specification for Zinc-Coated (Galvanized) Steel Core Wire for Use in Overhead Electrical Conductors

Application

ACSR (aluminum conductor steel reinforced) conductor is widely used in power transmission lines with various voltage levels due to its advantages such as simple structure, low cost, etc. It is also suitable for laying across rivers and valleys where special geographical teatures exist. According to different sag and tensile requirements, steel wires of different tensile strength can be used for ACSR conductor.

Construction

1. Conductor: 1350 hard-drawn aluminum

2. Tensile strength of aluminum wire: 160~200 MPa

3. Elongation at break: 1.4~2.3%

4. Reinforced core: steel (different strength levels available)

5. Zinc coating: class A, B and C

6. Tensile strength: normal, high, extra-high and ultra-high grades available

7. Sectional area: 10~1500mm2

8. Construction: contrically stranded round conductor

9. Min. bending radius: 30 times cable radius

10. DC Resistance at 20 degrees:
