Bare Conductor Cable

1. Introduction

Bare conductor is an electrical conductor having no covering or electrical insulation. Some types of bare conductors include AACAAACACSRAACSR and ACAR etc.

2. Applications

Used as bare overhead transmission cable and as primary and secondary distribution cable.

ACSR offers optimal strength for line design.

Variable steel core stranding enables desired strength to be achieved without sacrificing ampacity.

AAC Conductor are constructed with a straight round central aluminum wire surrounded by one or more layers of helically laid aluminium wires. 

The most commonly used stranding consists of 7, 19, 37, 61 and 91 wires.

In all constructions, the successive layers shall have opposite directions of lay, the outermost layer being right-handed.

Designed utilizing a high-strength aluminum-alloy to achieve a high strength-to-weight ratio; affords good sag characteristics.

Aluminum-alloy gives 6201-T81 gives AAAC higher resistance to corrosion than ACSR.

AAC bare conductors meet or exceed the following ASTM specifications:

B-230 Aluminum Wire, 1350-H119 for Electrical Purposes 

B-231 Aluminum Conductors, Concentric-Lay-Stranded 

B-400 Compact Round Concentric-Lay-Stranded Aluminum 1350 Conductors

 

AAAC

AAAC bare conductor meets or exceeds the following ASTM specifications:

B-398 Aluminum Alloy 6201-T81 Wire for Electrical Purposes 

B-399 Concentric-Lay-Stranded 6201 J81 Aluminum Alloy Conductors
