DESCRIPTION

Bare all aluminum alloy conductors (AAAC) are concentric-lay-stranded consisting of aluminum alloy 6201 wires wrapped helically around a central wire.  The aluminum is heat-treated to a T81 temper to provide superior strength.

Features and Benefits

AAAC conductors provide a higher strength to weight ratio than traditional AAC conductors, and better corrosion resistance than ACSR conductors.

Applications

Stranded bare AAAC may be used for overhead line installations where the higher strength or temperature ratings of ACSR, ACCR or other types of conductors is not required, but improved sag performance to AAC is desired.

ALL ALUMINUM CONDUCTORS (AAC) 
AAC conductor is also known as aluminium stranded conductor. It is manufactured from electrolytic ally refined aluminium, with a minimum purity of 99.7%. AAC is used mainly in urban areas where the spacing is short and the supports are close. All aluminium conductors are made up of one or more strands of aluminium wire depending on the end usage. AAC is also used extensively in coastal regions because it has a high degree of corrosion resistance.
